It is often told that Ukrainians are great show-makers. When it comes to the staging of a live performance, artists lay themselves out in order to make the spectators crave for an extra dose of the show. Ukraine has bred many gifted directors and clip makers, that collaborate with world-famous celebrities and stage worth-watching films. Although there are many names to be broadcasted, I would like to tell you about one of the brightest and most talented artists of Ukraine.
Her name is Tanyu Muinho. She comes from Odesa, a bustling city in the south of Ukraine. Tanyu is a director and a photographer. Her career began nine years ago, when she started shooting for Ukrainian top singers.
During the last decade she has broken into the new ground. Nowadays Tanyu creates visuals on a variety of media platforms from music videos to advertising campaigns. I bet you have seen her works on the expanses of the Internet. Tanyu also works with Dior and Netflix. Her video for Lil Nas X’s “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” became a full-blown cultural event and earned a Grammy nod for Best Music Video. She was also nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Music Video for the music video of the song “As It Was’ by Harry Styles.
« Tanyu is my director and videographer. I brought her from Ukraine.I wanted to do something new, so I decided that I would find someone special.I found her in Ukraine and I think she’s amazing. » – says Cardi B about Tanyu Muinho.
The world-building in Muinho’s videos is imaginative, precise and well-rendered. And as much as is going on within any given shot, what truly sets Muinho’s fantasias apart is the suggestion of the galaxies just outside the frame’s four walls. Tanyu is bold to take risks and experiment with colors and shapes, she goes extra mile and gets her credit.
